Portable Electrocardiograph With Leads On Palms And Feet
Abstract
Routine electrocardiography (ECG) is typically performed by skilled operators who are familiar with the correct placement of electrodes on patients. Incorrect electrode positioning can lead to critical errors in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. The objective of this research is to design a Portable Electrocardiograph with leads placed on the palms and soles of the feet. The contribution of this study lies in facilitating non-experts in the field of health by simplifying the use of the Electrocardiograph. Additionally, the research aims to create an affordable Electrocardiograph suitable for use in local health centers and medical facilities. To enhance usability, the device is designed with pad electrodes to be placed on the palms and soles, each marked for proper positioning. The Electrocardiograph employs a High Pass Filter (20dB passive combined with Non-Inverting Amplifier), a Low Pass Filter (40dB), and a notch filter, all displayed on a Personal Computer (PC) monitor. Results from testing on several respondents demonstrate a display closely resembling actual Electrocardiograph (ECG) signals. However, a limitation of this module is that inadequate grounding from the power supply can introduce noise into the displayed signal. The findings of this research can be implemented in conventional Electrocardiographs to enhance ease of use
