Abstract

Patient monitoring systems in hospitals are conventionally carried out by physically visiting patients. However, limitations in medical staff and facilities can jeopardize prioritized care for patients. The objective of this research is to design a heart rate, body temperature, and respiration monitoring device based on the Internet of Things (IoT). This device focuses on heart rate and body temperature parameters, displaying the results on the ThingSpeak web platform and sending Gmail notifications accessible to medical personnel. The research contribution lies in creating an IoT-based health monitoring tool, enabling remote monitoring via the ThingSpeak platform. To achieve accurate data collection, patients must be in a relaxed position, and stable Wi-Fi connectivity is essential to prevent monitoring disruptions. The study employs a DS18B20 temperature sensor, placed axillary, and a pulse sensor (SEN11574) on the finger. Data collection from Patient 1 yielded an average error of 0.6 for heart rate and 0.05 for body temperature parameters. The research successfully displayed data on ThingSpeak and delivered notifications as anticipated. Furthermore, this system can be implemented in similar monitoring devices to enhance ease of use and patient care
